Welcome to the Society for Conservation Biology of North America (SCBNA)’s Spring Scavenger Hunt 🌼 Hosted by the SCBNA’s Student Affairs Committee, the Scavenger Hunt aims to build connections, engagement, and community among students and early-career professionals across North America. This page includes everything you need to know about this exciting event, along with links to important resources and people.
Over the course of 2 months (April 1 – May 31) in Spring 2026, participants will complete a series of creative, conservation-themed challenges—from local nature explorations to community engagement activities—earning points by posting short reflections, photos, or stories within designated Slack threads. Participants may sign up individually or in teams, and SCBNA moderators will keep the conversation lively through announcements, shoutouts, and mid-event highlights.
Format Overview:
- Participants compete by posting submissions on a shared Slack platform.
- Participants complete and share progress on a themed list of tasks aligned with conservation, restoration, and community building.
- Posts on Slack serve as both submissions and conversation starters among participants.
- Points and prizes (like SCBNA recognition and a NACCR 2026 registration discount!) reward creativity, enthusiasm, and engagement.
- Standout submissions may be featured on SCBNA social media or in a post-event newsletter wrap-up.
- Please indicate in your submission or message @jumanah.k if you do not wish for your submissions to be shared on SCBNA social media.
