This new session type is intended to give anyone the opportunity to organize a networking session at NACCB 2022. Whether geared toward students, members of the LGBTQ+ conservation community, colleagues working in a particular conservation discipline (and endless other topics/target participants), this session lets you facilitate networking and connections among conference attendees. Sessions can have structured activities to encourage interactions and participation, as well as unstructured networking time – or a combination of both.
Sessions must be open to all conference attendees. (No invitation-only events may be submitted through this session type). Organizing a networking session does NOT count towards NACCB’s one presentation or one proposal rule.
Please Note: While we are excited to host our first in-person meeting since 2018, the NACCB 2022 organizing committee is also exploring hybrid options that will allow for some virtual participation. We recognize that 2022 plans are fluid for many folks and that the pandemic and other challenges will influence preferences around virtual and in-person participation at NACCB 2022. At this time, we encourage proposal submissions regardless of format preference, and we will work with organizers of accepted proposals as hybrid planning progresses.
Proposals must contain the following information:
Organized Session title (150 character limit)
Organizer(s) name, affiliation and title
Duration – between 0.5 hours – 1.5 hours
Proposed theme and justification for the session (for internal use only) (200 word limit)
A description of the session. The description will be used to advertise the session. Please include any structured/facilitated networking activities planned for the session. (300 word limit)
Tweetable description (less than 240 characters) (optional – to help us in advertising your session)
Session organizer(s), moderator(s), presenter(s) and participants must agree to the participation policy. Please note that submission of an Organized Networking Session Proposal does NOT count toward the One Proposal or One Presentation rules outlined at the Participation Policy link above.
All proposals will be reviewed by the NACCB 2022 Scientific Program Committee to ensure that proposals contribute to the theme and spirit of our conference, are open to all, and provide a useful forum for NACCB 2022 attendees. Applicants will be notified about the status of their proposals by March 2022.
